The City of Livingston has as its form the commission-manager form of government.
The commission is made up of five elected members.
The chairman is elected by the members of the commission from their own number.
The commission is an elected ordinance-making body and the depository of all the city's powers.
The commissioners appoint the manager with a majority vote.
The law establishes that the appointed manager (Steve Golnar) is the chief administrative officer of local government; he is the person in charge of running the city on a daily basis.
