Profile:

Dear Park County Voter:
I am a candidate for Park County Commissioner, running to represent the Second District, for the seat currently occupied by Commissioner Ed Carrell who is not seeking re-election. I would like to introduce myself, to explain why I have chosen to be a candidate, to present my qualifications for this office and to ask for your support.

Park County is my home. I’ve lived in the West for more than 30 years and I’ve been a resident, property-owner, taxpayer, and voter in our county for more than a decade Through community service, I’ve tried to make a positive contribution to our county and our residents. I am Chair of Community Health Partners, a member of the Park County Planning Board for the past seven years, and active as a Board Member of the Humane Society, a member of Search and Rescue, and the Park County 20/20 Vision team.

Before becoming self-employed as a graphic designer and book publisher, I was employed as a social worker for the U.S. Army, Legal Aid, Developmental Disabilities, then, in public and nonprofit organizations involved in economic development and the environment. I understand that our citizens want efficient and effective County Government — government that meets the needs of the people. I also know that to an extent, we all wish to be left alone, in the great tradition of Montana and the West. I will respect the traditions and the beauty of our County and our State.

I understand the critical importance of clean air and clean water to our County’s economy. I understand the issues that confront our ranchers, our working families, low and moderate income families, and our seniors. I know what makes Park County a truly wonderful place to live and work. But, I also know there are not enough good jobs—for men or for women—or enough opportunities for our young people.”

You can expect me to listen and to learn—to concentrate on efficiency, effectiveness and openness—and to work for fairness, stability, and predictability in our tax structure. We need sensible economic development—more and better jobs. You will get all of my energy, all of my experience, and all of my capacity. You can also
expect that, after input and careful analysis, I will make the hard decisions and I will make them on time.

I ask for your support and for your vote. I look forward to serving you as Second District Commissioner in 2005 and beyond.

Thank you,
Brant Robey
