Celtic Lore
The Ivy Gort Symbolized by the Butterfly Spans September 30th through October 27th including 7 degrees of Libra through 4 59 degrees of Scorpio. Ruled by the Veiled Moon Persephone, it attunes with the goddesses Ariadne, Hecate, Arianrhod, and Rhiannon.
Ivy represents the strength and eternal love of Baccus and Ariadne whom he lost through illness after their marriage. Ariadne was returned to Bacchus and made immortal by Jupiter. The Crown of Ivy represents the Corona Borealis in the sky. This constellation symbolizes the entrance into the Faery People or Sidhe's world in Celtic myth. As such, the fairies represent a time warp of ancestral memories in the supernatural dimension. As the province of lost souls who could not reincarnate but remained earthbound, the butterfly is the symbol of this Faery Faith with the lunar goddess as the source of life.
The reference to Persephone veiled, is an eclipse phenemonon where the Sun or Moon are said to veil a hidden planet of this name. Persephone's position through ephemeridians is reported to be opposite the Moon in a person's natal chart. Arianrhod symbolizes the most mysterious and mystical aspects of Druidism, holding both ends of the thread of life and given immortality identified with the Ivy sign.

Saturn-Uranus cycle
By far the most significant of the celestial signatures of September, historically speaking, is the third (and the second this year) in the 2008-2010 series of Saturn-Uranus oppositions. I’ve described this cosmic signpost in detail and in context in my annual forecasts for 2008 and 2009, so I’ll refer you to those sources for a fuller exposition. For now, suffice it to say first, that this alignment is within a few degrees of being exact the whole month long (and has been since late August, and will continue to be so into early October). So, despite the fact that the exact alignment occurs on September 15, don’t expect a one-day flare-up. It’s already working as the month begins, and it’s not over when the month ends. And since it’s the middle alignment in the whole 2008-2010 set of five oppositions between these two planets, this is obviously a longer-term process – part of a longer-term transformation yet...
This alignment is associated with an overturning of the economic and political status quo; again, not overnight, but this month should usher in the next significant development in the process. Another banking crisis, a reversal in the equity markets, more irregularities and uncertainties in international currency exchanges: these are the hallmarks of this alignment, historically. "That's what Saturn-Uranus oppositions do," as I pointed out in my 2009 World Forecast Highlights: "they replace a bankrupt regime with a new one, because the old fiction becomes too expensive to maintain." Coming from "...the SEP 15, 2009 Saturn-Uranus Opposition With these developments come revolution and reform in the political sphere including plenty of scapegoating and class warfare. Just don’t fall into the apocryphal mind-set that all too often afflicts those who attempt to understand and explain transitions of this sort. It’s not the end of the world: that’s a model based on human mortality, and it’s inappropriate here. It’s not a crash or a collapse: those are mechanical models, and they’re off-base too. What this is, is more along the lines of an ecological model: an environment is changing, altering food chains and species distributions. It’s an organic process, in other words. When the Industrial Revolution moved the center of economic activity from rural farms to urban factories, the farmers didn’t all die – even if the family farm mostly did. Now that we’re in the throes of a transition to a post-industrial economy, the workers won’t all die either – even if their jobs do..."

Pluto through the Signs: Collective fears of annihilation
Plutonic gods and goddesses in world mythologies hold the promise of immortality; they transcend the fear of death. So it can be seen that the threats we face challenge us to overcome our reluctance to let go of our ego-selves. They provoke us to seek that part of us that lives on no matter what. The mysteries of life and death, and the value and uses of both, are questioned over and over again as the power to create and destroy dances around the globe.
Pluto in Capricorn - 2008 to 2024 Fear revolves around: (NB We had a glimpse of this during the recent Saturn-Pluto opposition) Fear of corporate power, corporate corruption, businesses and governments in cahoots with one another to screw over the masses, large-scale accountability and accounting issues, the coupling (or decoupling) of power and responsibility, containment of destructive power, threats to and from civilisation itself, threats to and from long-established structures and nation-states who consider themselves to be the patriarchal leaders of the world, using regulation to control and subdue. Clash of civilisations. Activation of struggles about civilised values. The power of governments, institutions, and big business to wreak havoc. Or wreaking havoc in the name of business and government. Borders, boundaries, structures, walls - whether they go up or come down - may be seen as directly connected with fear, threats, and the possibility of destruction.
In closing.... Pluto's movement through the signs is continuous, without end. After Capricorn, Pluto will move into Aquarius (in 2024), and then Pisces (in 2043), and then start the zodiac cycle again in Aries (in 2068). The whole cycle takes 248 years. It spends the longest time in Taurus, the sign of the Earth itself, and also of the body and the material world in general, correlating with the greater need to recycle the primordial and archaic material on that level so that life on Earth undergoes continual re-creation rather than heads for permanent destruction.
It's possible to speculate that 'unfinished business' from previous cycles could return to future generations. How we handle Pluto in Sagittarius now could then be revisited 12 generations hence. And we could now be dealing with the unfinished business of our ancestors 12 generations ago.

In a recent take on the astrological significance of the Pluto into Capricorn phenomenon et al, renowned astrologer Barbara Hand Clow writes: ...Chiron conjunct Neptune in Aquarius opens the people to the healing powers of spiritual inspiration that flow through Obama. Neptune has been in Aquarius since 1998 and will remain until 2012; and Neptune is the defining planet of the Galactic Underworld (1999-2011). As soon as the Galactic Underworld opened in early 1999, our minds, hearts, and cells began being stretched and warped by galactic energy waves from the center of our Milky Way Galaxy-and these high-energy waves were modulated by Neptune in Aquarius.
Now I can see that these waves are opening our minds so that we can re-enter "Universe Society," as described by Alfred Lambrement Webre in his book Exopolitics, which studies Earth's political relationship with the whole universe. [See The Mayan Code: Time Acceleration and Awakening the World Mind.] Webre posits, as have I as well, that our species has been quarantined from the rest of the cosmos because we've become a violent and warlike species. We will never be invited back into our greater cosmic family until we stop killing each other. Neptune in Aquarius has been gradually wearing down egoic resistance to the greater wisdom of our cosmic ancestors, and the Chiron/Neptune conjunctions in Aquarius during 2008 and 2009 have been healing our separation pain. During 2009, Jupiter conjuncts both Chiron and Neptune three times in Aquarius, which will expand our ability to move beyond being an isolated and wounded species.
